Number SystemThe Aztec number system was very straight forward: one dot meant one, two dots meant two, and so on. If you wanted to show five, you would draw a line. For ten, you wouldn't write one dot and a zero, but you would write two lines.

AlphabetThe Aztecs had different symbols for letters, like the Egyptians. For example, R would be a picture of bread, D would be a footprint, and so on. This language was called Nahuatl.

SymbolsThey Also had symbols and words for things, like snake would be a snake head, and it would be called "coatl", which is part of Quetzalcoatl, or feathered serpent.
